In this exercise, we use a live object reference, but then deviate from a literal reproduction, and introduce made-up elements.

Thumbnailing practice
For homework, do some very simple thumbnail sketches toward the final illustration. It should contain a character in an environment and include some narrative element.
Also it should contain some kind of hair or cloth. Bring in at 2-3 next week,

Face swap
For homework:
Find a photo of a face. Paint the face as it appears. Do as much as possible without using the eyedropper.
Then using a mirror, use your own face as a reference first to mimic the expression from the photo, and then to alter it.

week 3 dynamic lighting still life
Create another still life with two lamps.
1. Paint for an hour with one lamp
2. After an hour-ish, make a new layer and turn on the second lamp
3. Bring two photos, one from each lighting situation.
4. Limit time to 3 hrs.

week 5 - thumbnailing
For homework, work on a crude, line sketch toward the final project. It does not have to be lit or detailed.. it should be a simple sketch that could be done in a few minutes.
